Wieslaw Smetek is an illustrator, graphic designer, and painter. Born 1955 in Poland, he spent 5 years at the High School of Fine Arts in Bydgoszcz and 5 years of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk. In 1981 he received his Diploma in the faculty of Graphic Design. Since 1981 he has been working as an independent illustrator and painter. His specialization is magazine covers. In the years 1991-2020 he made over 1,000 covers and over 3,000 illustrations for German-language editors. In 2014, the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg devoted to him an individual exhibition named "Covers and More"
